Hyatt Centric Downtown opens Oct. 15 in the old Last Hotel on Wash Ave

The former Last Hotel is coming back as a Hyatt. Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis is scheduled to open Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2026, at 1501 Washington Avenue, next to City Museum, Brent Solomon reported for KSDK on Oct. 7. Singh Investment Group (SIG Management) bought the shuttered property for $14 million in March 2026 — the sale recorded March 11, according to city records cited by the St. Louis Business Journal — and put about $4 million more into renovations ahead of the reopening, KSDK reported. The 142-room hotel fills the historic International Shoe Co. building, which opened as The Last Hotel in 2019 and closed in March 2025. Guests get an 11th-floor outdoor rooftop pool and bar with downtown skyline views, a sky bridge to City Museum, and a ballroom that can host more than 200 people, per KSDK. Hyatt’s property fact sheet lists 142 modern guestrooms, Expedition Rooftop […]

Bogen Lofts’ fall move-in deal, Sen Thai’s lobster roll and the Blues on Saturday

Live Bogen Lofts, the eight-story loft building at 1209 Washington Ave. at North Tucker Boulevard, is leasing this fall with a newly reimagined rooftop sky lounge and a move-in special that runs through the end of the month. Oliver Properties bought the Bogen in April 2025 for about $15 million, adding 125 units to its downtown portfolio, the St. Louis Business Journal reported. The building dates to 1901 and spans more than 140,000 square feet. Jacob Development Group first developed it as condos in the 2000s, but it shifted mostly to apartments after condo sales slowed during the Great Recession, and a few units are still individually owned. Downstairs, Escape the Room fills one of the building’s two ground-floor storefronts. When it bought the building, Oliver Properties told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch it planned a $6 million renovation to upgrade the resident lounge, fitness center, rooftop clubhouse and building systems. Arzola’s Tacos y Más joins Wash Ave Food Hall with street tacos downtown

Another founding kitchen is locking in at Wash Ave Food Hall. Arzola’s Tacos y Más, a fast-casual concept from the team behind Benton Park’s Arzola’s Fajitas & Margaritas, will open this fall inside the hall at 1122 Washington Avenue, George Mahe reported for St. Louis Magazine on Oct. 5. Husband-and-wife owners Ron and Larisa Webb bought the Benton Park flagship in November 2024. The food-hall concept builds on the Tex-Mex recipes and hospitality approach that have guided Arzola’s since its 2022 debut and its St. Charles expansion. Head chef Adan Melendez is joining the venture so guests get the same quality of cooking they know from the brick-and-mortar spots, Ron told SLM. Tacos lead the food-hall menu — a shift from fajitas that fits grab-and-go dining. Melendez’s street tacos come three to an order in warm corn tortillas with onion, cilantro, and a choice of protein. Ultimate Tacos are two […]

Cordovan on the Park brings 74 renovated apartments and Coffeestamp to 13th & Wash Ave

Photo Credit: Oliver Properties (via St. Louis Post-Dispatch) The historic Rudman Building at 13th Street and Washington Avenue has a new name and a new chapter. Oliver Properties has renamed the eight-story building at 500 N. 13th St. Cordovan on the Park, and residents are expected to begin moving in by mid-October, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and St. Louis Business Journal reported Sept. 25. The St. Louis-based developer is putting $12 million into the project, according to the Business Journal. That includes more than $5 million to buy the roughly 120,000-square-foot property, which it acquired in July 2025, and about $7 million to renovate it. The project is financed with a mix of state and federal historic tax credits and construction financing from Kansas City-based Equity Bank. Cordovan on the Park will have 74 apartments. Oliver Properties is renovating the building’s 48 existing units and converting two former office floors […]

Troit brings Detroit flavors to Wash Ave Food Hall

Photo Credit: Courtesy of Troit Another kitchen is joining Wash Ave Food Hall on Washington Avenue — and this one traces straight back to Detroit. Troit, a Detroit-inspired concept from restaurateur Jordaryl “Jordy” Logan, is slated to open this fall inside the hall at 1122 Washington Avenue. Logan also owns The Moniker, the cocktail lounge and restaurant at 1000 Washington Avenue, Suite B, which opened in 2025. For Logan, a Detroit native, Troit is built around the foods he grew up with — not only Detroit-style pizza, but a wider Motor City spread. The planned menu includes Detroit-style pizza, Coney dogs, corned beef sandwiches, corned beef egg rolls, and rotating specialties, with Michigan brands like Faygo soda and Better Made chips in the mix. “This is about bringing Detroit-style fare to St. Louis and doing it in a way that feels authentic,” Logan said in a release. “’Wash Ave’ is […]

Freedom Technology Solutions opens in the Globe Building for about 50 employees

Photo Credit: globebuilding.com A tech company has opened a new office in St. Louis’ Globe Building, the latest tenant to join the multi-tenant office property in the Wash Ave neighborhood. Freedom Technology Solutions earlier this month opened an office in the historic Globe Building at 710 N. Tucker Blvd. for about 50 employees, the company said. Founded in 2004, the Columbia, Maryland–based company works with clients in the national intelligence sector, including the Department of Defense. The region’s sixth-largest office property based on its square footage of 626,760, the Globe Building has become a hub for technology firms. Features like sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) space and on-site data centers have made it a desirable location for firms that contract with federal agencies, particularly the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which has a campus in St. Louis. Steven Thomas, senior vice president of National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and National Reconnaissance Office programs at […]

The Therm brings furnished private offices, flexible team suites, meeting rooms, event space, a podcast studio, and premium shared amenities. The Last Hotel closed in March 2025; Singh Investment Group bought it for $14 million

Originally published by the St. Louis Business Journal. By Nathan Rubbelke. March 7, 2025. Reprinted by KSDK: Downtown St. Louis hotel closes suddenly. Paywalled original: bizjournals.com. The Last Hotel STL at 1501 Washington Avenue — not 800 Washington, which is Marriott St. Louis Grand — closed suddenly on Thursday, March 6, 2025, with staff laid off, Nathan Rubbelke reported for the St. Louis Business Journal (KSDK reprint, March 7, 2025). Majority owner Michael Qualizza blamed a legal dispute from a failed sale with partner/co-manager Neil Freeman (Cook County, Illinois court; receiver Robert Habeeb / Maverick Hotels later withdrew). The 142-room hotel occupied the converted former International Shoe Co. building. It opened in July 2019 after a $60 million redevelopment. Fe Equus Development developed it, later sold a stake to a group including Qualizza (Urban Development Group). It was independent, with no brand affiliation at close.
