Ventana Lofts’ rooftop-pool living, Steve’s Smash at Food Hall opening weekend and Mizzou vs. SLU Friday
Live
Ventana Lofts, the loft building at 1635 Washington Ave., is leasing with a current perk: apply within 24 hours of your tour and the $285 admin fee is waived or credited. Oliver Properties acquired 65 units at Ventana in 2024 as it built out its Wash Ave portfolio, the St. Louis Business Journal reported (Nathan Rubbelke, Dec. 12, 2024).
The building sits on Washington Avenue in Downtown West with a Walk Score of 94. Homes are loft-style with condo-grade finishes, in-unit washers and dryers, full kitchens and abundant windows. Many bathrooms have a separated shower and soaking tub. Residents get solid concrete floors, on-site garage parking, elevators and key-fob access, plus a fitness center, resident lobby, package room, micro mart, rooftop clubroom, resort-style rooftop pool and outdoor deck.
On Nov. 5, listed one-bedrooms at Ventana ran about $1,449 to $1,479 a month (about 1,234–1,290 square feet). Tours are by appointment. Call or text (314) 866-8824 or visit ventanalofts.com, and see the Ventana Lofts listing on Wash Ave.
And if you lived here, it’s a 5-block walk to dinner at Wash Ave Food Hall, where Steve’s Smash has a new Figgy Stardust smashburger, then a 14-minute walk to Enterprise Center for Mizzou vs. SLU this Friday (6 p.m.).
Eat | Drink
Wash Ave Food Hall at 1122 Washington Ave. soft-opened earlier this week and rolls into its grand opening weekend starting Friday, Nov. 6 (through the weekend), George Mahe reported for St. Louis Magazine on Nov. 3. Oliver Properties and FIRETEN Hospitality built the hall in the old Copia / Reign space with eight food concepts, two bars and indoor-outdoor seating under retractable roofs.

One of the founding counters is Steve’s Smash, the smashburger concept from Steve Ewing and HuSTL Hospitality Group that grew out of a surprise hit at Steve’s Hot Dogs. Chuck, sirloin and brisket patties anchor the menu, including the Figgy Stardust — fig jam, bacon, goat cheese, balsamic glaze and white cheddar — plus crinkle-cut fries plain or loaded. Shared seating is first-come; no reservations. Hours after opening: 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday and Sunday, per SLM.
Sports
Mizzou and Saint Louis University men’s basketball meet Friday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. at Enterprise Center, 1401 Clark Ave. — the first Billikens–Tigers matchup in 24 years and the opener of a three-game series, SLU Athletics announced. Tickets ($60–$300) and info: Enterprise Center event page and SLU’s ticket release.

The Blues don’t have a home game this weekend. They’re at Nashville on Saturday, Nov. 7, and next home is Tuesday, Nov. 10, vs. Detroit at Enterprise Center (Blues schedule).
